I- GO TO the fo2go website.
REGISTER
Click on the “SIGN UP NOW” button, and enter your registration info.
CONTACTS
Select Contacts link at top of screen and click Create New Contact
Enter a contact name and email address – For example, you can enter Dad, and your Dad’s email address. You can ignore the email contact box for now, and save the contact.
GROUPS
From the Contact Screen, select My Groups. Then, just type in a group name, such as “ALL” as a group to include all your contacts, and select all contacts to include in this group. Or you might want to create a smaller group “BFF” of best friends J.
The Group entry screen also provides a quick way to enter multiple contacts - by entering up to five at once with corresponding mail addresses. Hit Save and you’re done… (notice that contacts added from the Group page now show up on the main Contacts page).
TAGS
Select the Tags link to enter some tags that will describe your photos:
The main value of tags is to help you search for them later. Words for people, places or events that are likely to be in your photos make good Tags. For example, you could add Birthday, Dad, Susie, Fred, Mom, School and Easter. Save those Tags and you’re ready to go.
II – MOBILE PHONE - Install the fo2go iPhone app.
Go to the Settings tab.
Enter your username and password you chose when you created your account on fo2go.com.
Select Login. If you don’t see this as an option - select Options or More and then select Login.
Select the Home tab at the bottom of the screen.
Select some Contacts, and return Home. If you don't have any contacts yet, select Add Contact button.
Next, on to Tags… mark some tags that are related to your next photos’ content or location. If you don’t have them entered already from fo2go.com, you can select “Add Tags” from main menu, and new tags will be added to your fo2go account.
Take a picture with the Photo icon, select "Use" and now you are ready to Upload! Remember, if you forget what tags/ contacts are set, you can review and change them anytime before Upload, but if they are correct just go ahead and upload. (Upload time will vary depending on quality of your wireless connection. Presumably you will be on an unlimited data plan on the iPhone, but if not, beware that data charges are incurred to upload... but the good thing is - only one upload occurs and then the server does all the distribution to selected contacts :). Video files of course are larger, and you may want to wait until you have a good wi-fi connection to upload.
VIEW SHARED PICTURES
Back at fo2go.com, login and check your account. Look under Albums to see new files that were uploaded.
Next check your email – should have a message if you set up your account to get a copy of all shared files.
So, that’s how it works – if you’re concerned about data charges, this is the most efficient way to send a picture to all your buddies, and only be charged for one upload !
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO WITH FO2GO ?
Share pictures one by one, as an email attachment. (This format enables you to send to your other online photo accounts such as Facebook, WalMart.com, Picasa, Flickr, Blogger, Vox, etc that accept attachments sent to a specific email address.) This “share” format is controlled by the “Is this an email contact?” box on the Contact screen. Look below for an example of how to set this up to send photos to the WalMart photo center. Otherwise, shared media is aggregated under a temporary URL link that is sent to your contacts the first time you share media files with them each day.
You may also want to format contacts this way to send to a cell phone, if you set up contacts with their phone’s mms email address (but check with your friend first; if they have a good mobile browser, they may prefer the link rather than attachment delivery format, and they may have to pay to receive mms messages).
Upload media to your account from your desktop.
Share media with contacts from your desktop.
Mark images as public (click on the icon on the Albums page, so it shows up like ). If you want all your mobile upload pictures to show up as public, then click the box next to “Check here for all uploads made from a mobile device to be made public” on the account page.
Example of how to send photos to Walmart Photo Center:
a) Login to your account on Fo2Go.com, go to the Contacts page, and click the Create New Contact link to set up a “Walmart” contact with email address of save@photos.walmart.com*. Be sure to check the box that says “Is this an email contact”; this tells the Fo2Go server to send each picture individually as an email attachment, rather than as a link back to photos on Fo2Go.com. Click the Save button to save this contact.
b) Next, go to Walmart.com and create a photo center account, if you don’t have one already. Be sure to register with the same email address that is associated with your fo2go account.
Once you’ve created an account, click on the My Account link at top of the photo center home page. At the bottom of the page, you will see where you can set “Email Upload Preferences”. You can edit preferences here to select an album name for photos emailed to Walmart, including those from fo2go. We recommend that you DO NOT check the box under Notification and Confirmation that says “Please ask for confirmation before adding photos to my account” as this delays delivery to Walmart and requires entry of a pin code after you get the confirmation email (but we could never figure out what pin code to enter). If you don’t check that box, uploads work well, and should be in your Walmart album shortly.
* Note: Other photo sites use a different technique, where they generate a unique email address for each account holder to use for uploading photos by email . If this is the case, you will need to login to that particular photo site and generate your account specific destination email address before you create the corresponding new Fo2Go contact.
For example, for Flickr you go to (Flickr email instructions) where you can generate a custom email address for uploads.
Myspace: Login,
click on “My Account” link (upper right navigation bar)
click on “Mobile” link
look for email address under “Send Photos From Your Phone”
Facebook: facebook email instructions
Others are similar, but you may have to search the site’s FAQ’s or HELP to find out how to upload via email. Once you get your specific email address for uploads, just add it as a new fo2go contact, and when you send pictures to that contact with fo2go, you pictures will automatically be sent to the other site!
