Common fo2go questions

I’m confused about the tags, and contacts? What is the function, and why can't I add or select contact, or tags, because it's empty...

You can add contacts or tags from the app, but easiest way is to go online on pc and login to your account at fo2go.com. Then you select contacts or tags page.

Set up contacts - by typing in nickname and email address for anyone you think you might want to share pictures with, and ...

Same for tags - type in keywords for who, what, and where you think you'll be taking pictures. Once you've done this online, the next time you run fo2go on your phone it will retrieve the contact and tag info for your account.

The idea is you can then select tags and contacts for each picture you take on your phone. Then when you take a picture, it will be uploaded to fo2go server with the current tag and contact selections, and server will automatically send an email message to the contacts. The tags will be saved with each picture, and can be used to search for pictures later when you're online at fo2go.

How does fo2go send messages to contacts?

There are two ways – normally photos sent from fo2go.com are sent as an email, with an embedded link to a temporary page at the fo2go site where the pictures can be seen. Multiple images sent to a single contact are aggregated so they can all be seen at the same link.

However, fo2go can also send pictures as a normal email where the images are attached. This format is useful when you wish to send a single image to a destination that needs to receive the file in this format. For example you should set up contacts for delivery as attachments when you want to send pictures to a single destination, such as to a Flickr, Picasa, or WalMart account upload address. When you're logged into your fo2go.com account, and you go into the contacts/ edit function, you will see a check box, that if checked will send media as an email attachment, rather than in the usual link format.

How do I send pictures to someone’s cell phone as a text message?

Set up a contact with a name that will remind you of the format, such as BILL-CELL, and when you define the contact address use the carrier text address and format shown on (xxxx cell link page) such as phonenumber@cingularme.com.

Here are some common formats for carriers (where phonenumber = your 10 digit phone number ):

T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
Cingular: phonenumber@cingularme.com
Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
US Cellular: phonenumber@email.uscc.net
SunCom: phonenumber@tms.suncom.com
